Problematic Internet Usage - Final Major Project

PIU (Problematic internet usage) is the term given to the overuse of online platforms which then interfere with your day to day life. I found a strong correlation between the use of social media and negative effects on a person's mental health. It is an area that I felt was often neglected despite the increase of both anxiety and depression within society. For my final major project, I chose to bring light towards these issues in order to raise awareness and provide support for anyone directly affected by social media platforms. My book gives an informative understanding towards the topic, exploring the different areas social media can impact your mental health. The overlapping designs cut off the sides of the pages reflect the feelings of anxiety, pushing you towards the open white spaces that contrast with the feelings of isolation. The repeated type represents the repetitive cycles we find ourselves in daily, with feature phrases that produce tension every avid social media user recognises. The book also contains real-life stories and experiences from two anonymous users discussing their perspective and offering advice for readers feeling the mental health effects of social media.

If you liked the project, give it a thumbs up!
